Meet the Doctors

Dr. Mark Abrahams grew up in Newton, Kansas and attended Newton High School. He graduated from Bethel College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Science in 2008. He attended the University of Missouri, Saint Louis, College of Optometry, graduating with a Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2014.
During the last year of optometry school, Dr. Abrahams trained at the University Eye Clinic in Saint Louis, as well as Fig Garden Optometry in Fresno California. The highlight of this year was 4 months of intern residency at the Robert Dole VA hospital in Wichita Kansas. Prior to founding Legacy Eyecare in September 2015, Dr. Abrahams worked in the private practice setting in Wichita for 16 months.

Dr. Aaron Johnson, originally from Strong City, Kansas, received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Tabor College in 2016. He then earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO) in 2020. This program focuses on extensive patient care while serving the Cherokee Nation, offering training not only in comprehensive eyecare, but also laser and surgical procedures. In addition to his Doctorate of Optometry, Dr. Johnson earned his certification in Surgical Procedures and Laser Therapy for the Anterior Segment at NSUOCO. During his time in optometry school he was awarded the student of the year and graduated with honors.
Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
Dr. Johnson provides comprehensive eye exams for all ages. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Kansas Optometric Association.

Our Practice
The name Legacy Eyecare is in honor of Dr. Abrahams’ grandfather, Dr. Norman E. Abrahams, who practiced optometry in Hillsboro KS from 1949 to 1991.
Dr. Robert Arnold retired in October 2015, after selecting Dr. Abrahams to continue the practice. All existing patient files have been transferred over to Dr. Abrahams, so your care may continue seamlessly. Dr. Arnold would like to thank all of you patients for your patronage for the 45 years he was in practice.
In 2020, Legacy Eyecare merged with the two Mid Kansas Eyecare offices in Hesston and Hillsboro in order to serve all of Central Kansas from three convenient locations.
Message from the Office
Optometry for us is much more than clear vision. We very much believe that the eyes are a window to the body and that medical eye exams are an essential part of healthy life.
We think that optometry has a unique place in the medical field and enjoying coordinating with local doctors in order to ensure that you have the best possible care. We look forward to being a part of the Central Kansas community and thank you for trusting us to continue the high level of personal vision care that you have come to expect from these practices.
